Our Story
HME Companies, founded in 2019, is a full-service development firm in Brookings, SD, developing and managing an array of real estate entities across South Dakota. HME focuses on three real estate sectors: Senior Living, Multifamily, and Residential Twin homes.
Kirk Simet is the founder and CEO of HME Companies. Before launching HME, Kirk had an extensive career in sales, marketing, and development. At Daktronics, he founded and managed the sports marketing division, which sold the country’s first large screen LED video display boards. Later, with ICON architectural group, he established over fifteen new developments in the senior living, apartment, and commercial markets. With over 40 years of combined development, marketing, and sales expertise – Kirk’s experience led to the formation of Simet Properties in 2015 which evolved into SLH Holdings in 2018.
Since its founding, HME has grown to 25 employees, managing 18 Multifamily and Senior Living properties, with 424 units
